Safety Data & Installation Safety Manual
Pre-Installation
Product Family: Outdoor Living Foundations (OLF) Modular Systems
Use: Outdoor kitchens, fireplaces, fire pits, furniture, walls
Intended Users: Licensed contractors and trained installation crews
1. Identification
Product Name: OLF Modular Kitchen, Furniture, Fire Features, and Structural Units
Recommended Use: Assembly and installation of prefabricated outdoor living modules.
Manufacturer: Outdoor Living Foundations (OLF)
Emergency Contact: Refer to project-specific site safety plan.
2. Hazard Identification
OLF modules are non-hazardous when intact. Risks arise during handling, cutting, fastening, and finishing.
Primary Hazards
Cuts/abrasions from sharp panel edges.
Dust inhalation when cutting Cemrock composite panels (respirable dust).
Crush/strain injuries from manual handling of heavy modules (50–600 lbs).
Trips and falls during staging and assembly.
Fire/explosion risks from improper gas/electrical installation.
Signal Words: WARNING – Improper handling or installation may result in injury or property damage.
3. Composition / Information on Materials
Cemrock Composite Panels – Lightweight cementitious composite.
Steel/Aluminum Hardware – Fasteners, bracing, leveling feet.
Adhesives/Sealants – Sold separately; follow manufacturer SDS.
Appliances (3rd party) – Must reference OEM SDS.
4. First Aid Measures
Inhalation: Move worker to fresh air if dust generated; provide respiratory support if needed.
Skin Contact: Wash with soap and water; cover cuts/abrasions.
Eye Contact: Flush with clean water for 15 minutes.
Crush Injury: Call emergency services; follow site medical response protocol.
5. Fire Fighting Measures
Modules are non-combustible.
Fire risk arises only from adjacent combustible finishes or fuel appliances.
Extinguishing Media: Class A/B/C extinguishers as applicable.
Special PPE: Fire-resistant gloves, respirator for smoke.
6. Accidental Release Measures
Spills/Leaks: Not applicable.
Dust Control: Use HEPA vacuum or wet-cutting techniques; avoid dry sweeping.
Waste Disposal: Collect cuttings and debris in approved containers. Dispose in accordance with local construction waste regulations.
7. Handling and Storage
Store flat on pallets; protect from moisture and direct impact.
Do not stack more than 3 pallets high.
Lift with mechanical assistance for units over 80 lbs.
Always wear gloves when handling panels.
Stage modules near installation zone to minimize manual handling.
8. Exposure Controls / PPE
Required PPE During Installation:
Safety glasses / face shield when cutting or drilling.
NIOSH-approved respirator when cutting Cemrock materials.
Cut-resistant gloves.
Steel-toe boots.
Hearing protection when using power tools.
High-visibility vest as per site SSP.
Engineering Controls:
Wet-cutting methods preferred.
Local exhaust/HEPA vacuums when dry-cutting is unavoidable.
9. Physical and Chemical Properties
Non-flammable, non-corrosive composite panels.
Dust is nuisance particulate only; avoid prolonged exposure.
Modules withstand outdoor exposure (UV, water, freeze/thaw).
10. Stability and Reactivity
Stable under normal construction conditions.
Cutting may release nuisance dust.
Incompatible with strong acids or alkalis.
11. Installation Safety & Sequencing Hazards
Lifting/Handling: Use two-man lifts or mechanical aids.
Power Tools: Follow OSHA safe-use guidelines.
Utility Integration: All electrical, gas, and plumbing must be performed by licensed trades.
Fire Features: Verify clearances, ventilation, and fuel type. Test systems before cladding.
Finishes: Use respirators for adhesives, sealants, or solvent-based coatings. Follow product SDS.
12. Disposal Considerations
Dispose of off-cuts, debris, and packaging through approved construction waste channels.
Recycle metals where possible.
Adhesives/chemicals disposed per manufacturer SDS.
13. Regulatory & Compliance Notes
Permits: All installations require local building department permits for gas, plumbing, and electrical.
Inspections: Do not enclose utilities until inspected and approved.
Appliances: Install only outdoor-rated appliances. Follow OEM manuals.
Final Sign-Off: Ensure inspection tags, permits, and manufacturer’s checklists are completed.
14. Training & Competency
All installers must be trained in manual handling, dust control, and PPE use.
Only licensed trades may connect utilities.
Toolbox talks required daily before installation tasks.
15. Emergency Information
Fire/Explosion: Evacuate, call fire department, shut off fuel supply.
Medical: Call site medical response/emergency services.
Utility Leak: Shut down source immediately; evacuate until inspected.
